Pursuant to Board Policy 8311, each April, the Board of Education will adopt a schedule of its regular meetings for the succeeding school year.  The attached dates and times are for Board of Education meetings, work sessions, and public hearings for the 2023-2024 school year.  All regularly scheduled open meetings will begin at 6:30 p.m., Greenwood Campus, Building E, Room 114.

This annual budget appropriation transfer will realign funds by category with planned and projected year-end expenses. Funds are available due to savings in salary expenditures from higher than expected turnover and a challenging hiring environment due to the pandemic. The proposed transfers are necessary to implement the FY2023 operating plan, implement the teacher substitute contract, provide for FY2023 textbooks, year two of classroom display panel lease, support prekindergarten classrooms, support principals' reallocation of funds to classroom supplies and provide for maintenance of plant. Expenditure decisions are subject to the availability of funds. With the Board's approval, this transfer will be submitted to the county executive and then to the Baltimore County Council for approval in July.

Attached is the FY2023 General Fund Report of Revenues, Expenditures, and Encumbrances–Budget and Actual for the period ending February 2023.

Zero (0) of the five (5) days that were built into the 2022-2023 school calendar for inclement weather were utilized this school year. The updates to the attached calendar include reducing the student and teacher calendar days by five (5). Therefore, instead of a total of 14 student and teacher days in June, the number was decreased to 9 days. In addition, the Assessment Days, the last day of classes for Preschool-3 and Pre-K, and the last day for teachers and students were re-designated accordingly.  The last day of school for students and teachers will be Tuesday, June 13, 2023.

Attached is an update on the 2023 Legislative Session House and Senate bills that have been introduced and presented during the session.  Bills are being tracked by the Office of Governmental Relations and Constituency Services.
