WATCHING OUR NEW TEACHERS REMINDED ME OF WHEN I STARTED IN BCPS SOME TIME AGO.
AS A NEW TEACHER, THERE WERE MANY THINGS I DIDN'T KNOW, BUT WHAT I DID KNOW WAS THAT I WANTED TO BE ABLE TO ADVOCATE FOR MY STUDENTS AND HELP THEM TO LEARN TO ADVOCATE FOR THEMSELVES.
BEING ABLE TO STAND UP FOR AND SPEAK OUT ABOUT WHAT YOU NEED IS IMPORTANT AND NECESSARY TO IMPROVE AND FOR GROWTH.
SOMEHOW, THOUGH, NOT SURPRISING IF YOU KNOW ME, I ENDED UP ALSO SPEAKING OUT FOR MY COLLEAGUES AND QUICKLY LEARNED THE RIGHTS THAT WE ARE AFFORDED THROUGH OUR MASTER AGREEMENT.
STRIVING FOR IMPROVED WORK CONDITIONS FOR EDUCATORS, WHICH ARE THE LEARNING CONDITIONS FOR OUR STUDENTS.

THE RESULT THIS SUMMER HAS BEEN PARTIALLY COMPLIANCE

CONCERNS AND SCHOOLS SCRAMBLING TO GET IEPS AND PLACEMENTS DONE BEFORE THE SCHOOL START YEAR STARTS.THAT'S NOT HAPPENING FOR MANY, SEVERAL OF MY CLIENTS INCLUDED.
AT THE END OF LAST SCHOOL YEAR, WE LOST SEVERAL IEP FACILITATORS.
THIS IS TO ADD TO THE FACILITATORS THAT WE ALREADY LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SCHOOL YEAR.
REMEMBER THOSE SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGISTS, WE LOST A LOT OF THEM TOO.
AND AS A RESULT, WE COULDN'T DO MEETINGS IN THE MONTH OF JULY BECAUSE ASSESSMENTS WEREN'T GETTING DONE.
I SPENT A LOT OF TIME ON THE PHONE TRYING TO GET ASSESSMENTS DONE, AND I CAN TELL YOU THAT I STILL DON'T KNOW WHETHER OR NOT THEY WERE COMPLETED.
SOME OF THE PROVIDERS, BECAUSE SCHOOLS ARE SCRAMBLING, WENT OUTSIDE THE B THE SPECIAL ED PROCESS TO GET THINGS MOVING AS IN NO 10 DAY NOTICE.
I DON'T HAVE MY ASSESSMENT INFORMATION.
YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THAT TO ME FIVE DAYS AHEAD OF TIME.
THE RESULT IS SCHOOLS ARE SCRAMBLING TO GET ASSESSMENTS REVIEWED, IEPS, WRITTEN ELIGIBILITY MADE, AND PLACEMENTS MADE ALL IN ONE MEETING NEXT WEEK.
THEN ON TOP OF THAT, WHAT DID WE DO WITH STUDENTS WHO NEEDED SUMMER SCHOOL, WHO NEEDED CREDIT RECOVERY? WELL, IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU FAILED A CLASS, YOU'RE IN MIDDLE SCHOOL.

THE THEME FOR THIS YEAR IS STRONGER TOGETHER, BUILDING A CULTURE OF SUPPORT AND ENGAGEMENT.
UM, WE HAD A WONDERFUL KEYNOTE FROM OUR TEACHER OF THE YEAR AND REALLY GIVES US, UH, THIS WEEK GIVES US THE OPPORTUNITY TO BRING IN NEW EDUCATORS AND TO START, UH, PROVIDING THEM THAT NECESSARY SUPPORT THAT THEY NEED.

UM, LAST YEAR THEY HAD ABOUT 500 ATTENDEES.
TO DATE, THEY'VE HAD WELL OVER 1600 ATTENDEES.
AND YOU'LL NOTE, WHEN WE LOOK AT OUR SCHOOLS, 74% OF SCHOOLS HAVE NO VACANCIES.
UM, YOU HAVE, UH, 23% OF OUR SCHOOLS WITH TWO OR FEWER VACANCIES IN FIVE SCHOOLS THAT HAVE MORE THAN TWO, BUT LESS THAN FOUR VACANCIES.
SO WE ARE DEFINITELY VERY GRATEFUL TO THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN, THE DIVISION OF HUMAN RESOURCES, THE DEPARTMENT OF STAFFING, IN PARTICULAR, ALL OF OUR PRINCIPALS AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPALS, UM, AS WELL AS THE DIVISION OF SCHOOLS AND DIVISION OF CURRICULUM INSTRUCTION WHO HAVE PARTICIPATING IN HELPING US TO, UH, CLOSE THE GAP ON TEACHER VACANCIES.

WE ARE PROUD AGAIN FOR THE SECOND YEAR IN A ROW TO BE HOSTING A MOBILE VACCINATION, UH, CLINIC.

AND WE ALSO HAVE, UH, THE MOBILE VACCINATION CLINIC IN A VARIETY OF LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT THE MONTH.

OVER THE PAST SEVERAL WEEKS, I HAVE HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO TAKE PART IN A NUMBER OF INCREDIBLE EXPERIENCES THAT HAVE HELPED ME GROW AS A LEADER AND AS A REPRESENTATIVE OF OUR STUDENTS.
ONE HIGHLIGHT WAS ATTENDING THE MARYLAND ASSOCIATION OF STUDENT COUNCIL'S THREE DAY PRESENTER CERTIFICATION AND EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING IN MONTGOMERY COUNTY.
OVER THE COURSE OF THOSE THREE DAYS, I NOW ONLY HAD THE HONOR OF SERVING AS AN EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBER BY VIRTUE OF MY POSITION AS SM, BUT I ALSO CONTINUED MY SERVICE AS ONE OF M MAS C'S STATE LEGISLATIVE AFFAIRS COORDINATORS.
DURING THE CONFERENCE, I PRESENTED MULTIPLE WORKSHOPS TO STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE ENTIRE STATE ON EFFECTIVE

WORKSHOP PRESENTATION SKILLS, EMPOWERING THEM TO SHARE THEIR VOICES CONFIDENTLY AND MEANINGFULLY IN THEIR OWN SCHOOLS AND COMMUNITIES.THESE CONVERSATIONS REMINDED ME THAT STRONG STUDENT LEADERSHIP ISN'T JUST ABOUT HOLDING A TITLE.
IT'S ABOUT EQUIPPING OTHERS TO LEAD AS WELL.
I ALSO HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF ATTENDING THE AMERICAN CIVIL LIBERTIES UNION NATIONAL ADVOCACY INSTITUTE FOR THE SECOND TIME.
RETURNING TO THIS PROGRAM WAS JUST AS FULFILLING, IF NOT MORE SO THEN MY FIRST EXPERIENCE, ONE OF OUR KEY AREAS OF DISCUSSION THIS YEAR WAS EDUCATION AND SCHOOL SAFETY TOPICS THAT ARE CENTRAL TO MY ROLE HERE ON THE BOARD.
ONE OF THE MOST IMPACTFUL MOMENTS FROM THE PROGRAM WAS PARTICIPATING IN PHONE BANKING AND MEETING WITH VARIOUS REPRESENTATIVES AND THEIR STAFF THROUGHOUT THE PROGRAM, WE EXPLORED THE CHALLENGES SCHOOLS FACE IN CREATING ENVIRONMENTS IN THE BOTH THAT ARE BOTH PHYSICALLY SAFE AND EMOTIONALLY SUPPORTIVE.
AND I LEFT WITH NEW PERSPECTIVES AND STRATEGIES THAT I'M EAGER TO BRING BACK INTO OUR BCPS CONVERSATIONS.
CLOSER TO HOME, I WAS ABLE TO ATTEND THE BCPS PARTNERSHIP FAIR WHERE I MET WITH A VARIETY OF ORGANIZATIONS FROM ORGANIZATIONS FROM ACROSS BALTIMORE COUNTY.
IT WAS INSPIRING TO HEAR ABOUT THEIR MISSIONS AND THEIR WAYS AND THE WAYS THAT THEY'RE WORKING TO SUPPORT OUR STUDENTS, WHETHER THROUGH MENTORSHIP, HEALTH SERVICES, EXTRACURRICULAR PROGRAMS, OR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT.
THESE PARTNERSHIPS REMIND ME HOW INTERCONNECTED OUR SCHOOL SYSTEM IS WITHIN THE BROADER COMMUNITY AND HOW MUCH POTENTIAL THERE IS WHEN WE COLLABORATE TOWARDS SHARED GOALS.
IN JUST A FEW DAYS, I'LL BE ATTENDING THE B THE ANNUAL BCPS FEST, A CELEBRATION OF THE BACK TO SCHOOL SEASON IN OUR BCPS FAM FAMILY.
THIS EVENT IS A SET, IS SUCH A GREAT WAY TO START THE YEAR BY BRINGING TOGETHER STUDENTS, FAMILIES, STAFF, AND COMMUNITY PARTNERS.
IN THE SAME SPIRIT OF CELEBRATING THE NEW SCHOOL YEAR, I HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO LAUNCH THE BACK TO BCPS SCHOOL CAMPAIGN ALONGSIDE FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL PRINCIPAL O'CONNELL, MR. O'CONNELL, SETTING A TONE OF EXCITEMENT, UNITY, AND HIGH EXPECTATIONS FOR THE YEAR AHEAD WITHIN THE BALTIMORE COUNTY STUDENT COUNCILS.
THROUGH MY ROLE AS SM, I ALSO SERVE ON THE OFFICER TEAM.
FOR THIS PAST MONTH, WE REVIEWED OVER A HUNDRED APPLICATIONS AND APPOINTED 40 EXECUTIVE BOARD MEMBERS.
I WILL SPECIFICALLY BE OVERSEEING THE COUNTY AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT, WHICH FOCUSES ON MENTAL HEALTH SUPPORT AND SCHOOL SAFETY.
TWO PRIORITIES THAT REMAIN AT THE FOREFRONT OF OUR WORK THIS YEAR.
THROUGH BCSD, I'LL ALSO BE IN ATTENDANCE AT ALL MONTHLY BOARD OF BOARD OF SELECTED STUDENTS MEETINGS LED BY OUR VICE PRESIDENT, SAM PARK, WHICH PROVIDE INVALUABLE INSIGHTS FROM STUDENTS ACROSS EVERY PART OF OUR COUNTY.
LOOKING AHEAD ON AUGUST 18TH, I'LL ATTEND THE MARYLAND ASSOCIATION OF BOARDS OF EDUCATION STUDENT BOARD MEMBER ORIENTATION.
THIS WILL BE AN IMPORTANT OPPORTUNITY TO COLLABORATE WITH OTHER BOARD MEMBERS ACROSS THE STATE, EXCHANGE IDEAS, AND STRENGTHEN MY ABILITY TO EFFECTIVELY REPRESENT BALTIMORE COUNTY STUDENTS.

AS A REMINDER, THESE PROGRAMS WERE APPROVED LAST SPRING TO BE PAUSED AND NO APPLICATIONS WERE ACCEPTED FOR FALL 24 FOR SCHOOL YEAR 25, 26.
WE ARE ALSO PROPOSING DISCONTINUING THE STRINGS AND BAND AND REPLACING THESE PROGRAMS WITH INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC, WHICH IS A MAGNET PROGRAM THAT EXISTS IN OTHER SCHOOLS.
AS YOU MAY RECALL, LAST YEAR, THE BOARD OF ED APPROVED THE PAUSE TO, UM, MILFORD MILLS STRINGS PROGRAM AS WELL.
BEGINNING IN THE FALL 25 MAGNET APPLICATION FOR 26 27, UH, MILFORD MILL WILL BEGIN TAKING APPLICANTS TO THE, UH, INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC MAGNET PROGRAM FOR BOTH STRINGS AND BAND.
AND THEN THE MILFORD, UM, ACADEMY, MILFORD MILL ACADEMY SUNSET WOULD COMPLETE IN JUNE 28.
THE REMAINING MAGNET PROGRAMS AT MILFORD MILL ACADEMY, WHICH AREN'T MENTIONED HERE, WOULD REMAIN AND CAN CONTINUE TO TAKE APPLICATIONS IN, UM, AS A DATA POINT.
THE PAST MAGNET APPLICATION FROM FALL 23 CYCLE, UM, MILFORD MILL ACADEMY RECEIVED SEVEN APPLICATIONS FOR 20 SEATS IN INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC STRINGS AND FIVE APPLICATIONS FOR 20 SEATS IN ACTING.
AND AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, THOSE NUMBERS ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH TO MAIN MAINTAIN OR SUSTAIN THE PROGRAM.
THE JAPANESE WORLD LANGUAGE MAGNET PROGRAM IS PROPOSED TO SUNSET JAPANESE AS A WORLD LANGUAGE IS NOT OFFERED AT ANY BCPS HIGH SCHOOL.
THEREFORE, THE MAGNET PROGRAM DOES NOT AFFORD STUDENTS A VERTICAL PATHWAY.
THE SUNSET WOULD BEGIN BY NOT TAKING GRADE SIX APPLICATIONS IN FALL 25 FOR SCHOOL YEAR 26 27.
THE SUNSET WOULD BE COMPLETED BY JUNE, 2029.
ADDITIONALLY, TONIGHT WE PROPOSE A PHASE OUT OF THE LITERARY ARTS MAGNET PROGRAM AT PATAPSCO HIGH SCHOOL AND CENTER FOR THE ARTS DUE TO LOW INTEREST AND A LACK OF DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE ADDITION THAT IS SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE FOR RENOVATION.
UM, AS A DATA POINT, AS I SHARED IN THE OTHER PREVIOUS, UH, MODEL, THERE WERE 24 APPLICANTS FOR LITERARY ARTS.
OF THOSE 21 APPLIED TO, OF THOSE 21 APPLIED TO GRADE NINE, TWO TO GRADE 10, AND ONE TO GRADE 11, THOSE NUMBERS A AGAIN, ARE HARD TO SUSTAIN GOING FORWARD.

MONDOR SHARED WITH YOU, MAGNET PROGRAMS ARE ASKED, ACCESSED THROUGH AN APPLICATION PROCESS, WHEREAS THE COMPREHENSIVE SCHOOL OFFERINGS ARE NOT ACCESSED THROUGH AN APPLICATION PRO UH, UH, PROCESS.
IN FACT, I'VE HAD THIS CONVERSATION WITH SEVERAL BOARD MEMBERS CONFUSION OVER WHY ARE THEY AVAILABLE AS AS BOTH OPTIONS.

TWO OF THESE SCHOOLS ARE MAGNET SCHOOLS, CURRENTLY PARKVILLE HIGH SCHOOL AND WOODLAWN HIGH SCHOOL.
AND AT THE OTHER SEVEN SCHOOLS, ENGINEERING PROJECT LEAD THE WAY IS AVAILABLE AS A COMPREHENSIVE CTE PROGRAM.
THE PROPOSAL IS TO, UM, PHASE OUT THE MAGNET PROGRAM, ENGINEERING PROJECT LEAD THE WAY AT PARKVILLE AND WOODLAWN, MEANING THOSE SCHOOLS WOULD NO LONGER TAKE APPLICANTS THIS FALL.
THE PROGRAMS COULD IN FACT REMAIN IN PLACE AT THESE SCHOOLS BECAUSE THEY HAVE STUDENTS COMING IN FROM ACROSS THE BOUNDARY.
SO THE PROGRAMS WOULD REMAIN AT THESE SCHOOLS.
STUDENTS SIMPLY WOULD NOT ACCESS THEM IF APPROVED THIS EVENING.
THAT WOULD ALLOW, UH, ENGINEERING PROJECT LEAD THE WAY TO BE CONSISTENTLY OFFERED ACROSS ALL NINE HIGH SCHOOLS AS A CTE PRO PROGRAM OF STUDY.
AND ALSO, IF APPROVED, UM, WE WOULD BEGIN WITH THIS APPLICATION SEASON, UH, FALL OF 2025, TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR 2026, OR IN FACT NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR SCHOOL YEAR 26 FOR GRADE NINE.
AND THE PHASE OUT WOULD BE COMPLETED BY JUNE OF 2030.
SO THE STUDENTS AT THOSE TWO SCHOOLS CURRENTLY IN THE MAGNET PROGRAM WOULD FINISH THOSE OUT.
SO ALSO IN PHASE ONE, WE ARE LOOKING AT THE MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION PLUMBING CAREERS PROGRAM.
THIS CTE PROGRAM IS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE AT TOUR OF OUR HIGH SCHOOLS WESTERN SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY AND KENWOOD HIGH SCHOOL.
IT IS A MAGNET PROGRAM AT WESTERN SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY.
IT IS A CTE PROGRAM OF STUDY AT KENWOOD.
UM, THE PROPOSAL, UH, FOR THIS PROGRAM IS A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT.
UH, WE ARE PROPOSING THAT THIS, UH, PROGRAM BE ELIMINATED AT WESTERN SCHOOL OF TECHNOLOGY, REMAIN IN PLACE AT KENWOOD, BUT AT WESTERN WE WOULD SUBSTITUTE THE MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION PLUMBING CAREERS PROGRAM WITH OUR BUILDING CONSTRUCTION OR BCT PROGRAM.
UM, THIS IS A PROGRAM THAT LOOKS AT FOUR ASPECTS OF CONSTRUCTION, AND I'M GONNA CHECK MY NOTES 'CAUSE I AM NOT ON CONSTRUCTION.
IT DOES INCLUDE PLUMBING, BUT IT ALSO INCLUDES HVAC, CARPENTRY, AND ELECTRICAL.
SO STUDENTS WOULD GET KIND OF THAT BROAD RANGE APPROACH.
UM, WITH THE SHIFT, UM, IT WOULD ALIGN WITH BCT THAT IS AVAILABLE AS A MAGNET PROGRAM IN EASTERN TECH, CARVER, MILFORD MILL, AND SELLERS POINT TECHNICAL.
SO AGAIN, WE WOULD HAVE CONSISTENCY THERE WITH HOW THE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED.
AGAIN, KENWOOD WOULD CONTINUE TO OFFER, UM, THE MECHANICAL CONSTRUCTION PLUMBING PROGRAM IS A CTE PROGRAM OF STUDY.

UM, IF APPROVED, WE WOULD BEGIN TAKING APPLICATIONS IN FALL OF 2025 FOR SCHOOL YEAR, UH, 26 27.

I'M HERE TONIGHT WITH MS. BIELSKI TO PRESENT FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE 20 25 20 26 SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR.

AS PART OF THE AGREEMENT WITH TABCO REACH DURING MEDIATION, UM, SUBJECT TO BOARD REVISION OF THE SCHOOL SYSTEM CALENDAR, OUR REQUEST INCLUDES, UM, TO CHANGE THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING TO A HALF DAY REMOTE PD AND HALF DAY MENTAL HEALTH.
THAT WAS THE, THE MEDIATION REQUEST.
UM, BECAUSE STATE LAW REQUIRES THAT THERE BE 180 SCHOOL DAYS, UM, THE WEDNESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING CANNOT BE CHANGED TO A A HALF DAY PD, UM, AND REMOTE PD AND A HALF DAY MENTAL HEALTH WITHOUT EXTENDING THE SCHOOL YEAR.
SO IN COLLABORATION WITH TABCO AND PRESIDENT OLDS AND GAINING FEEDBACK FROM TEACHERS, THE ALTERNATIVE REQUEST IS AS FOLLOWS, ADDITION OF NOVEMBER 14TH, 2025 AND FEBRUARY 20TH, 2026 AS THREE HOUR OR EARLY RELEASE DAYS FOR STUDENTS TO PROVIDE TEACHERS THE OPPORTUNITY TO ENGAGE IN PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT.
THE CURRENT CALENDARS DOES NOT HAVE ANY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DAYS BETWEEN NOVEMBER AND MARCH AND THEN NOVEMBER 26TH, THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING.
THE PROPOSAL IS FOR THAT TO BE A HALF DAY FOR STUDENTS AND A HALF DAY MENTAL, UM, HEALTH OR EARLY RELEASE FOR TEACHERS.

AND WHAT I MEAN BY THAT IS, UM, WITH TAKING THAT DAY OFF, UM, BEFORE THE WEDNESDAY, INSTEAD OF DOING THE HALF DAY ON WEDNESDAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING AND JUST HAVING THE DAY OFF AND THEN ADDING THE, UM, JUNE 17TH, DOES THAT GIVE, UM, 12 MONTH EMPLOYEES AN EXTRA DAY OFF THAT THEY DIDN'T ALREADY HAVE? NO, NO, IT DOESN'T.
NO, BECAUSE THEY WOULD BE ALREADY WORKING ON JUNE 17TH, CORRECT.
BUT THEY WOULDN'T BE, BUT THEY WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN WORKING ON, SO THEY WOULD'VE BEEN WORKING ALREADY JUNE 17TH, BUT 10 MONTH EMPLOYEES WOULDN'T HAVE BEEN.
SO IT DOES GIVE THEM AN EXTRA DAY.
THE, THE 10 MONTH EMPLOYEES PER THE MEDIATION WOULD'VE BEEN WORKING THAT DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING.

12 MONTHS WOULD'VE DONE THE SAME THING ON THAT DAY.
AND TO CLARIFY, ARE WE TALKING ABOUT THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING? BECAUSE I THOUGHT, DID YOU SAY JUNE 17TH WHAT DAY? RIGHT.
BUT YOU ADDED JUNE 17TH AS NO, WE DIDN'T ADD IT.
THEY DID NOT WANNA ADD IT BECAUSE THEY WERE, SO WE PUT STUDENTS BACK.
STUDENTS WILL BE IN SCHOOL FOR A HALF DAY ON THE DAY BEFORE THANKSGIVING VERSUS A WHOLE DAY OFF.

WE DON'T NEED TO EXTEND, WE'LL HAVE THE, WE'LL HAVE THE 180 DAYS.

WE ARE HERE THIS EVENING TO PRESENT TO YOU THE FY 2027 STATE CAPITAL BUDGET REQUEST FOR YOUR INFORMATION.
THIS SLIDE PROVIDES THE SCHEDULE FOR THE FY 2027 CAPITAL BUDGET REQUEST.
AFTER TONIGHT'S INTRODUCTION, THERE WILL BE A BOARD WORK SESSION ON AUGUST 26TH, FOLLOWED BY YOUR VOTE ON SEPTEMBER THE NINTH.
THIS SLIDE SHOWS THE PRIORITY ORDER OF THE FY 2027 STATE CAPITAL BUDGET REQUEST, AND IT'S BEEN PROVIDED AS A SEPARATE ITEM AS WELL, UM, ON ITS OWN.
NEXT SLIDE, PLEASE, PLEASE NOTE THE FY 2027 STATE CAPITAL BUDGET REQUEST LOOKS DIFFERENT THAN SUBMISSIONS IN THE PAST.
NUMBER ONE, THIS REQUEST IS FORMATTED TO THE NEW STATE REQUIREMENT THAT ALL PROJECTS ARE LISTED IN STRICT PRIORITY ORDER.
IN THE PAST, WE HAD SOME FLEXIBILITY,

UH, WITH OUR LIST THAT, UH, WE COULD MOVE PROJECTS TO SOME DEGREE WITH THE IAC DEPENDING ON, UH, FUNDING NEED.UM, BEGINNING LAST YEAR, UH, THEY ACTUALLY MID-PROCESS LAST YEAR, UH, THEY WANTED TO SEE A STRICT PRIORITY ORDER.
FOR FY 2026, BCPS RECEIVED JUST OVER $40 MILLION IN STATE CAPITAL FUNDING.
BCPS MAY RECEIVE JUST UNDER 37 MILLION IN STATE CAPITAL FUNDING FOR FY 2027.
HOWEVER, THE IAC IS SOMETIMES ABLE TO SECURE ADDITIONAL FUNDING AND BCPS NEEDS TO BE PREPARED FOR THIS POSSIBILITY.
FURTHER, SOME PROJECTS MAY BE FUNDED THROUGH GRANTS OR OTHER INCOME, THUS THE STATE FUNDING PRIORITY LIST INCLUDES PROJECTS TOTALING ALMOST $49 MILLION FOR FY 2027.
AND WE KNOW, FOR EXAMPLE, THAT WE HAVE SOME SCHOOLS, UM, IN THE HEALTHY SCHOOLS FUNDING PROGRAM, UM, THAT HAS HELPED US WITH A NUMBER OF ROOF REPLACEMENTS THAT WE MAY BE ABLE TO PULL OFF THIS LIST BECAUSE THEY'LL BE FUNDED IN SOME OTHER WAYS.
AS A RESULT OF ANTICIPATED STATE FUNDING FOR FY 2027, THE STRICT PRIORITY ORDER INCLUDES CAPITAL NEEDED FOR THE DELANEY HIGH SCHOOL REPLACEMENT PROJECT AND THE SCOTTS BRANCH ELEMENTARY SCHOOL REPLACEMENT PROJECT, BUT ALSO SYSTEMIC NEEDS INCLUDING CHILLER, INTERCOM, BULLER, AND ROOF REPLACEMENTS THAT REPRESENT IMMEDIATE CAPITAL NEEDS.
IF STATE CAPITAL FUNDING EXCEEDS WHAT IS ESTIMATED FUNDING FOR PLANNING AND DESIGN FOR FUTURE PRODUCT PROJECTS WILL CONTINUE.
